Biographical
Richard T. Merker has been practicing law for 52 years. He is licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri. His practice has exclusively been devoted to litigation representing both sides of cases. He has also been appointed as special master, judge pro tem, Guardian Ad Litem, Special Counsel Counsel to the Johnson County Grand Jury and court appointed appraiser. He has also held every elected office with the Johnson County Bar Association. In 1997 and 1999, he was a finalist for a Johnson County District Court Judgeship and also served a four year term on the Johnson County Judicial Nominating Committee. He has had an "AV" rating with Martindale Hubbell since the 1970's. Recent Recipent of Missouri Bar Senior Counselor award for excellance. He was a member of the same law firm for 50 years, 48 of which was in active litigation practice. On July 1, 2019, he retired from the firm to form his private mediation practice.
Merker Mediation LLC exclusively handles mediations, arbitrations and special master appointments. Scheduling is easy and rates are highly competitive with no minimum hours or up-charges based on the number of litigants. Very high success in settling on small to multi-million dollar cases.
